News and Announcements:

  • Rudy Radosevich is the 2007 recipient of the Williams Outstanding Technology Service Award established by David and Kay Williams. The award recognizes an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the University in the area of technology and service. Radosevich, associate director for Computer Infrastructure Support Services, has been at Illinois State for 18 years, serving in various technical roles.   • The A/P Council presented the 2008 A/P Esprit de Corps award to Alex Skorpinski, a computer specialist working for Institutional Web Support. Skorpinski has donated countless hours to the enhancement and improvement of the A/P Council website. He has also participated in council meetings providing insight and discussion on many topics.
  • 150th Anniversary Implementation Team wins 2008 Team Excellence Award!
Data Bytes - Spring, 2008:
  • To date, Telecommunications &Networking has removed an average of 28.5 million network related threats per day.
  • Networking blocks about 5,000 hits against spyware sites each day.
  • CISS blocks an average of 842,545 spam messages a day.

Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles

Vision:

Delivering high quality IT services that support distinctiveness and excellence across the University.

Mission:

The mission of IT units at Illinois State University is to empower faculty and students in their pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning, research and creative activities, and public service, as well as to facilitate the efficient administration of the university. This is accomplished by following published best practices for IT organizations, by developing and implementing appropriate policies and procedures, by building and maintaining the necessary infrastructure, by investing in appropriate hardware and software, and by providing for a trained, service-oriented, support staff.

Guiding Principles:

  • IT initiatives enable faculty, students, administration, and select programs, to attain distinctiveness and excellence.
  • Coordinated annual IT planning in compliance with all campus-wide policies and procedures, allows for careful IT resource utilization and avoids unnecessary duplication of IT services.
  • Excellent service is the top priority of all campus IT professionals.
  • IT professionals will be distributed throughout the University to provide services tailored to local constituent needs.
  • The University provides strong, consistent support for IT professionals.
  • The security of personal information and secure access to the campus network and Internet for all is essential. Appropriate policies and procedures and maintaining up to date network infrastructure, hardware and software are key components to IT security and protection from hackers and e-mail and Internet-borne viruses, worms, and Trojans.
  • The use of IT makes working, teaching, learning, research and creative activity more accessible to persons with disabilities.
